Macclesfield Harriers & Athletic Club

2018 Four Villages Half Marathon Race Report

For the first Club Road Race of the year runners were greeted with very challenging conditions. The race started with cold sleet that eventually turned to cold rain during the rest of the race. The roads were very wet and slippery in many places with an accumulation of slushy snow. Even with these tough conditions 34 Harriers turned up, and wrapped up, to take on this challenging course posting some excellent times and picking up one age group prize.

For the men Billy Hicks (1:22:15) led the way starting 2018 off with a PB. James Perry (1:26:36) was second male Harrier setting a course PB. Julian Brown (1:31:29) was third male Harrier.

For the women Sophie Kirk (1:40:18) led the way as first Harrier over the line. Sophie was followed closely by Lindsay Purdie (1:40:53) as second female Harrier. Alison Hartopp (1:42:34) rounded off the top three female Harriers.

Yet again Harry Newton (2:11:08) pick up a vets prize, the V75 prize as the first place over 75 runner at the young age of 80!

As usual there were many more excellent times by runners under the grim conditions with their times listed below. Full results can be found at the following link:
